Garlic Breadsticks














When I came to Houston, We stayed at the hotel for a few days, for dinner they had Garlic Bread sticks. My younger daughter loved to eat them.  I know how to make garlic butter naan but had no idea how to make breadsticks. So one day I asked one of the cooks that were working in the hotel and he told me how to make them and the first time I made them they turned out very good and my kids and I were very happy. All ingredients required to make bread sticks are available at home. Now I make breadsticks 2-3 times a week. 


7-8 Breadsticks

Ingredients


For the dough
3 cups All purpose Flour
2 tsp active dry yeast
2 tsp sugar
1 tbsp garlic powder
 1 and ¼ cup warm water
 1 tsp Olive oil
 1 tsp Salt


For Garlic butter topping 
2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
½ tbsp Garlic powder or 2 fresh minced garlic cloves( fresh garlic gives a better flavour) 
 ¼ tbsp dried parsley
½ sesames seeds (optional)


Procedure
Take ¼ cup of warm water in the bowl, now add yeast in the water and set aside until it becomes foamy. After 5 -10 minutes, add the Flour, sugar, garlic powder, salt and olive oil. Mix everything well, add warm water and knead until a slightly sticky dough forms .Knead the dough by hand on a floured surface until it becomes very smooth and soft.


Now keep the dough & spread few more drops of oil on top of the dough and cover the bowl with cling wrap or wet cloth and keep it in a warm place for 30 minutes or until it has doubled in size.


Once the dough will double in size, punch down the air and divided the dough into 7-8 equal sized balls. Let these balls rest for 8 -10 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt the butter in microwave safe bowl with garlic powder, parsley, red chili flaks (optional) and keep aside.


Now, divided balls will raise a little, knead each piece slightly and shape into a 7 inch long breadstick, do the same for the remaining balls.





Take a baking tray and line it with parchment paper. Put your rolled dough on the baking sheet and brush it with the garlic butter.  


Cover it with cling film, Allow the bread stick to rest for 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. sprinkle sesame seeds on the top and bake it until it turns golden brown (about 15 minutes).Remove from oven. Brush with warm butter and serve hot with hot soup, salad. 

Note
You can also add fresh minced garlic instead of garlic powder.
