Black Forest Rasgulla Cake
Black Forest Rasgulla cake... sounds strange!!!! Nowadays there is fusion songs, fusion dance, fusion cooking… its fusion cake….it
was my younger daughter (Apurba Roy ‘s ) birthday cake. Every birthday I do
something different. This year she told me to make a different food for her, “it
should be unique because my name is Apurba …so my things should also be unique”.
After hearing that I was really thinking what to make for her. I got an idea to make a black forest cake with rasgulla; this was my first time making a Black Forest cake.
Black forest cake originated from Germany. It consists several layers of chocolate
and whipped cream and cherries between each layer. Then the cake is covered
with whipped cream and decorated with cherries. Here I used all ingredients but
instead of cherry I used homemade Rasgulla. My daughter likes black forest cake
but not cherry. Before making this cake I was excited and nervous but when I
finished, it turned out great and my guests also appreciated it very much, I was very happy.
Ingredients
2 Cups all purpose
flour / Maida
¾ Cup unsweetened
cocoa powder
1 & ½ Cup sugar
1 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Baking soda
3 Large eggs
1 Cup milk
½ Cup vegetable oil
Pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla
essence
WHIPPING CREAM
2 Pint Heavy
whipping cream (1 pint = 473 ml)
1 cup icing sugar
For garnish
Chocolate shavings
Maraschino cherries
12 rasgulla( I will post Rasgulla recipe soon)
Procedure
How to make
chocolate cake
Take large bowl and
sieve the all purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Mix it very well. Keep it aside.
Now take a separate bowl.
In that break eggs and add sugar. Beat them for 2 minutes. Now add oil, milk
and whisk them until sugar dissolves.
Sieve dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
Now mix all these ingredients well. Don’t over mix.
Pour the batter into a greased 9 inch cake pan and
bake in a preheated oven at 350 degree Fahrenheit for 35-40 minutes or until a
tooth pick inserted comes out clean. Bring into room temperature.
Making whipped cream for frosting
In a big bowl pour cream, add powder sugar, vanilla
essence and beat with an electric mixer at high speed until stiff peaks form,
approx 7 -10 minutes.
Place the whipped cream in the fridge till you start
assembling the cake.
Make Chocolate shaving
Take any chocolate bar and either grate it or peel it
using potato peeler.
Assembling the cake
When the cake cools down remove its top crust. Then
divided the cake into 3 equal layers.
Now apply 5-6 tsp of cherry syrup over the cake
layers. Don’t sprinkle too much syrup as the cake might get soggy.
Now take one layer of cake and place it on a cake board
and spread a layer of whipping cream on it.
Then put Rasgulla. First squeeze the rasgulla and
then put.
Now place another chocolate cake layer on the top of the rasgulla and
spread out one more layer of whipping cream.
Now put again rasgulla on the cake layers and final
layer of chocolate cake and now put whipped cream all over the cake
Now place
the cake in the fridge for at least 2 hours at this stage.
Take the remaining whipped cream in a piping bag with
a star tip and place it in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
Put chocolate shavings on the top of the chocolate cake
– Now you can decorate as you want.
Here I decorated with cherries and pipe
stars along the top edge of the cake and at the base of the cake and put a rasgulla in the middle of the cake as shown in
the picture above.
