Paneer Tawa Masala

When we went to Jaipur we had paneer tawa fry on the  road side dhaba. My kids liked it very much. So the asked the cook if he made the paneer on the tawa, he said that it could be made using the kadai as well.
If you love to have paneer like I, then this recipe is perfect for you...The paneer pieces are marinated with spices and then fried and added to a gravy, they turn out so delicious that every bite is a heavenly one. Enjoy

Servings 4-5

250 gm paneer cubes
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp chaat masala
¼ tsp garam masala
¼ tsp cumin seeds
¼ tsp ajwain seeds
½ tsp coriander powder
½ tsp tawa fry masala (optional)
2 tbsp curd
1tbsp kasturi methi (Dry fenugreek leaves)
1 big onion finely chopped
1tsp ginger-garlic paste
A pinch turmeric powder

Marinate the paneer cubes along with kasturi methi, chilli powder, turmeric powder, chat masala and salt, curd and 1 tsp of oil, ginger garlic paste and make sure to toss well and that the  cubes are well coated with the spices. Keep it in the refrigerator for 1/2 hour.

Now heat 1 tbsp of oil in a frying pan and fry the marinated paneer until golden brown on both side and keep it aside.

Heat enough oil in the same pan and temper the cuminseeds and ajwain seeds.

Once they start to crackle add garlic paste, chopped onions and saute till they get a brown shade.

Now add red chili powder ( I used green chili) turmeric powder ,salt ,coriander powder and saute for 1-2 minutes till the raw smell goes away. Now add tomato puree and mix well.

Cook till the oil separates from the gravy (if you want add 1 cup warm water for thick gravy)

Add the already fried paneer cubes and garam masala to the gravy, cook for few minutes.

Nicely mix all the ingredients together. Finally add the cream, give a stir.

Add the  chopped coriander leaves, now your paneer tawa masala is ready.

Serve it with roti, rice, naan.
