Marble Cake

Marble cake

Christmas is close by and now it is the time to make cakes for our children. It can be eaten as a snack or can be decorated to make a dessert for a party. This recipe makes a soft and spongy cake. I am sure your kids will love it as well.

Ingredients
1 cup all purpose flower
5 large eggs
¾ cup   granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
8 tbsp butter
Pinch of salt
130 grams dark chocolate or 2 tbsp coco powder
130 grams white chocolate

Procedure

Grease the cake pan with butter and keep a side.
Melt the butter (either in the microwave or in a sauce pan).
Preheat your oven to 360 F / 180 C.

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Now in a separate bowl beat the eggs using an electric mixer or hand mixer (do not beat for a long time)

Then add sugar and whisk this mixture until it becomes double in volume, fluffy, and have a whitish color. This is an important step to make the cake spongy and moist.

Add vanilla extract to this mixture and mix lightly.
Add the melted butter to the egg mixture while continuously stirring.

Gradually add the flour mixture to this batter and gently fold all the ingredients together using a spatula, until well incorporated.

Melt the dark chocolate and white chocolate separately.

Shift the batter equally, into 2 separate bowls

Add the melted dark chocolate to one portion of the batter. Then add the melted white chocolate to the other portion of the batter. Mix well.

First pour half of the white chocolate batter in the pan.

Then cover it with the entire dark chocolate batter, use a spatula to spread evenly. Finally pour the rest of the white chocolate batter on top of the chocolate batter. Don't over mix.

Now take a knife and make a zigzag pattern on the cake mixture.
Now it is ready to go in the oven.

Bake the cake for around 40 - 45 minutes or until a toothpick is inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool for about 20 minutes before removing the cake from the pan to cool completely.
